Calvin T. Williams

Mr. Calvin T. Williams, 74, passed away Saturday evening, June 9, 2012, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, June 12, at 11:00 AM from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A visitation will be held Monday evening, June 11, between the hours of 5:00 & 7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.

A native of Sumter County, Mr. Williams was born January 26, 1938 to the late Eugene Emeritt Williams and Gladys Harden Williams. His father passed away at an early age and he was reared by his mother and step-father, Loyd Vertis Marchant, Sr. & Gladys Harden Marchant.

Mr. Williams was a self employed general contractor and home buider. He was an avid reader and loved to study World War II history and raise dachshunds.

Survivors include a daughter, Rene Williams Neville & her husband Jeffrey of Brooklet; a son, Brent R. Williams & his wife Leigh of Americus; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Williams, Michael Williams, and Charles Williams, all of Americus, Kaye Rothenbuhler & her husband Paul of Statesboro, and Philip Neville of Brooklet; 2 great-grandchildren, Luke Rothenbuhler and Claire Rothenbuhler, both of Statesboro; 2 half-sisters, Ima Williams Chappell of Americus and Yvonne Marchant Satterfield & her husband Charlie of Ellaville; half-brother, Vertis Marchant & his wife Patricia of Leesburg; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a brother, David L. Williams, and half-siblings, Claude Williams, Robert Williams, Juanita Price, and Nell Melton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, GA 31719.
