Mrs. Grace K. Herrington, 86, passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 2010, in Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, in Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Marty Belcher, Jim Griffith, Kenneth Brownlee, Jerrell Tanner, and the men of Lee Street United Methodist Church are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at their residence, 903-A Moore Drive, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to any charity of choice. Born May 4, 1924, in Macon, she was a daughter of the late Simeon Lee Kitchens and Harriet Elizabeth Bradley Kitchens. She was a former employee of Bell South and of Manhattan Shirt Company. She was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church and an active member of the Faith Sunday School class at Magnolia Manor. Survivors include her husband, Floyd L. Herrington; a son, Brad Herrington of Leesburg; grandchildren, Dana and Hal Dillard of Andersonville, Betsy Herrington of Americus, Whitney and Dustin Bowen of Beaufort, SC, Michael Adkins of Lake Charles, LA, Kyle and April Adkins of Macon, and Russ Herrington of Leesburg; great grand-children, Owen and Reed Dillard of Andersonville, Andrew Bowen of Beaufort, SC, and Laney Adkins of Waycross; and a special friend, Anne Speer of Americus. A daughter, Beth Adkins, preceded her in death on June 8, 2009. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
