James "Jimmy" Rogers

Mr. James Foster “Jimmy” Rogers, Jr., 62, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 5, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2011, at Calvary Episcopal Church with Father Don Hutchens officiating. The family will greet friends following the services in the Parish Hall at Calvary Episcopal Church, and also from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday night, January 6, at their residence, 212 Valley Drive. Mr. Rogers was born in Americus on May 25, 1948, a son of the late James Foster Rogers and Rachel Marcus Rogers who survives him. He was a retired engineer for CSX Railroad, attended Calvary Episcopal Church, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mary Beth Powell Rogers of Americus; one son, William Thomas Rogers & his wife Shannon of Atlanta; one daughter, Rachel Rogers Arnold & her husband Justin of Americus; sisters & brothers, Gay Surles & her husband Dan of Albany; Grover Rogers of Blairesville; Ellen Ratliff & her husband David of Plains; and Robin Sharrow & her husband Steve of Albany; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, James Preston Powell & his wife Mary Faye of Americus; Harold Dugger Powell of Signal Mountain, TN; Richard Franklin Powell & his wife Ginny of Americus; and Rebecca Franklin & her husband McCoy of Banner Elk, NC; and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
