Kenneth "Smutt" Drake

Mr. Kenneth “Smutt” Drake, 68, 553-B R.W. Jones Road, Leslie, passed away late Tuesday evening, Jan. 25, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center due to complications following a broken hip. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, or at the family residence at other times. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, in Calvary Baptist Church with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. William Hall will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Lovelace, Travis Drake, James Smith, Butch Drake, Wayne Latham, and Taylor Peavy. Honorary pallbearers will include Shawna Richardson, Katie Richardson, Brittney Lovelace, Anne E. Smith, Shelby Smith and Maddie Mock. Born December 30, 1942, in Boaz, AL, he was a son of the late Floyd Patrick Drake and the late Virgie D. Jeffers Drake. A self-employed farmer, he was a retired custom combine driver, hay combiner, and fence installer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family of Kenneth Drake, c/o Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 301, Leslie, GA 31764. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Ann Chandler Drake of Leslie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and David Richardson of Leslie, and Nancy and Tony Peavy of Ellaville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Travis Drake, and Joseph and Brittney Lovelace, all of Leslie; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann and George Tomlinson of Leslie, Doris Clanton of Griffin, Margie Powell of Americus, and Magaleen Clanton of Hampton; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Donna Drake of Americus; four grandchildren whom he adored, Shawna Richardson and Katie Richardson, both of Leslie, Taylor Peavy of Ellaville, and KyLee “Bug” Lovelace of Leslie; and a number of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
