William "Billy" Peeples

Mr. Billy Peeples, 67, passed away very early on Thursday morning, February 3, 2011, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, in the First Baptist Church with interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Steve Golden and Rev. Rusty Mauldin will officiate. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4. At other times friends may call at the family residence. Those who desire to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Disabled Veterans of America at DAV Memorial Program, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301. Born August 14, 1943, in Savannah, Mr. Peeples was a son of the late William Issacs Peeples and Willa Mae Rentz Peeples. He owned and operated Southeastern Drilling Company and held Drillers License Number 2 in the state of Georgia. He was a member of the Georgia Drillers Association, the South Atlantic Jubilee, the Sumter Fair Association, M.B. Council Lodge # 13, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the early 1960s. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Peeples; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Tracy Peeples of Americus, Kellie and Chuck Stewart of Ellaville, T. J. Peeples of Americus, and Stephanie and Charles Horne of Ellaville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Royce and Carol Peeples of O-Fallon, MO, Boyce and Claire Peeples of Leesburg, GA, and David and Jessica Peeples of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Preston Stewart and Alea Horne, both of Ellaville; a number of nieces and nephews, including Tresa Williams of Butler; and a lifelong employee and friend, Henry Trice of Americus.
