Mrs. Fran Parkinson, 74, Thomas Mill Road, Plains, passed away at her residence on Monday, February 21, 2011. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Perry will officiate. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home on Wed., Feb. 23, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Baptist Church, c/o Bruce Johnson, Highway 308, Smithville, GA 31787, Hospice of Americus-Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709, or to any favorite charity. Born November 3, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, she is a daughter of the late John Tullis Wiggins and Effie Belle Berry Wiggins and was the wife of the late Lyman Phillip Parkinson. She served as a medical secretary for Dr. Harvey Simpson for 17 years and for Dr. Douglas Joyner for 20 years. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary, assistant music director, and soloist. Survivors include her daughter, Kellie P. Brown of Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Angie Parkinson of Hollandale, MS; a sister and brother-in-law, Zibby and Bobby Smith of Americus; grandchildren, Zachary Brown and Jessica Brown, both of Marietta, Rebekah Cooper of Independence, LA, Marlee Parkinson, Tullis Parkinson, and Megan Pearson, all of Hollandale, MS; a niece, Scarlett Reynolds of Atlanta; a great niece, Megan Reynolds of Atlanta; and a very special friend, Grigsby Chappell of Smithville.
