Mr. Jefferson Ray “Jeff” Collins, 43, of Smithville passed away on Tuesday evening, March 15, in Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted at the Smithville United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, with the Rev. Jan Connor officiating. Interment services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Central Standard Time, on Friday, March 18, in the Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Medon, TN. Jeff was born on January 1, 1968, in Newport, Arkansas. He worked at Wal Mart for more than 15 years in retail sales. The family will receive friends at the home of Johnny Gosa, 110 LeConte Street, Smithville. No scheduled visitation will be held at the funeral home, but those who desire to view Jeff may do so between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hancock Funeral Home. At the request of family members, memorial contributions may be made to the Smithville United Methodist Church or to any favorite charity. Survivors include his dad, Johnny Gosa of Smithville; a sister, Misty Collins and her special friend, Kevin Buchanan, both of Plains; a niece, Laycee Sumner of Smithville; and a nephew, Walker Buchanan of Plains. His mother, the former Trudy Regina McIntosh, preceded him in death. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA is in charge of arrangements.
