Betsy Lindsey Crisp, 66, passed away early Monday morning, March 21, 2011, at her residence, following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, by Calvary Episcopal Church, Americus. The Rev. Don Hutchens will preside. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at their residence, 724 South Lee Street, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 22. Born July 28, 1944 in Fort Gaines, GA, Mrs. Crisp was the daughter of the late Grady Lindsey and Verna Gay Lindsey Gibson. She was educated in the Fort Gaines public schools and at the University of Georgia. In 1963, she married Henry Lumpkin Crisp, who survives her, and from that time on, made her home in Americus. A devout Christian, she was a long-time member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She was a past president of the Americus Junior Service League, a past board member of the Sumter Historic Trust, and a past Town Chair and State Board member of the Colonial Dames of Amerca. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons & a daughter-in-law, Charles Frederick Crisp and John Lumpkin Crisp & Whitney Crisp of Americus; two daughters & sons-in-law, Shelley Crisp Henson & Ed Henson of Lookout Mountain, TN, and Lucy Crisp Perry & Collin Perry of Athens, GA; a sister & brother-in-law, Shelley Lindsey Marlowe & Don Marlowe of Leasburg, NC; a brother-in-law, Charles Robert Crisp of Moultrie, GA; and eight grandchildren, Mary Catherine Crisp, Sarah Madeline Crisp, John Henry Lumpkin Crisp & Charles Robert Crisp, all of Americus; Lucy Sheffield Henson, Mark Bennett Henson II & Betsy Crisp Henson, all of Lookout Mountain, TN; & Georgia Virginia Perry of Athens, GA. A number of nieces, nephews & cousins, as well as many friends, also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S.
