Ruth Elaine Winslow

Ruth Elaine Winslow, 87, died peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2011 in Americus, Georgia. Ruth was born on October 13, 1923 in Alpaugh, California to Richard Newton Divine and Ada Almedia Divine. She was the youngest of six children and had wonderful memories of growing up on a dairy farm in the San Joaquin Valley. In 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Richard Winslow, in Corcoran, CA. Harold and Ruth moved to Yuba City, CA in 1949. Ruth took great joy in raising her three children and being with family and friends. Ruth and Harold were members of the Church of Christ in Yuba City. She worked for many years as a secretary for the California Department of Transportation. In 2004, she moved to Americus, Georgia to live with her daughter, Carole Franks. Ruth was a loving wife and mother. She and Harold were married for 54 happy years until Harold preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by her son, Hal Winslow of Denver, Colorado, daughter Carole Franks of Americus, Georgia, daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Tom White of Live Oak, California. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, Todd of Oregon, Becca, Max, and Kate of Colorado, Sandra, Ken, Faye, and Michael of Georgia, and Kate, Erin, and Amy of California, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and cherished friends. All are welcome to a memorial service which will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Church of Christ, 287 Littlejohn Road, Yuba City, California. Burial services will be private. Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City, CA & Hancock Funeral Home in Americus, GA are in charge of arrangements.
