Dorothy O. Godwin

Mrs. Dorothy O. Godwin, 89, of Plains, passed away Sunday morning, May 15, 2011. Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at 11:00 AM, from the graveside at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Rev. Dan Ariail & Rev. Jeff Summers will officiate. Born April 15, 1922 in Jefferson County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Newton Oliphant & Mattie Isabelle Brown Oliphant. Mrs. Godwin was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, & was part owner of Plains Convalescent Home (now Lillian Carter Nursing Center.) She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynton Earl Godwin, Jr. Survivors include her children, L.E. "Boze" Godwin, III & his wife Betty of Plains, Kathy Lightner & her husband Johnny of Ellaville, & Olin Glenn Godwin, Sr. of Melburn, FL; ten grandchildren & fifteen great-grandchildren.
