Nella Lala

Mrs. Nella Lala, 63, of Americus, passed away Monday evening, July 18, 2011 at her residence. Born January 24, 1948 in Salt Lake City, FL, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Baker & Verna Smith Baker. She was of the Baptist faith and owner of Pub 280 in Americus. She loved arts & crafts, classic cars, and her animals, Winnie, Precious, Melissa, Heidi & Annabelle. Survivors include her husband, Charles Merriwether of Americus; children, Walt Marshall & Christie of Albany, GA, Markus Marshall of Americus, and Toni Bennett & Luke of Americus;sister LaWanna May & Jay of California; & brother John David Allen of Americus; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sumter Humane Society at shumanes@sowega.net Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 5:00 PM in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., Americus. Rev. Mark Chandler will officiate. Directly following the service, the family will receive friends and family at Pub 280 in downtown Americus to celebrate the life of Mrs. Nella.
