Grace H. Mccollum

Mrs. Grace H. McCollum, 86, of Americus passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2011 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:30 AM Friday, July 22, 2011 from the graveside at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Rev. Hugh DeLoach and Dr. Bryan Myers will officiate. A visitation will be held before the service at 10:00 AM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street. Born May 27, 1925 in Melbourne, FL, she was the daughter of the late Luther Chester Hewitt and Winnie Ola Fender Hewitt. Mrs. McCollum was a member of Central Baptist Church and a member of the Christian Women's Club. She had been a payroll clerk at Manhattan Shirt Co. and a bookkeeper at Shiver Lumber Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. McCollum. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy & James Allen of Ft. Valley; grandchildren Ray Clark of Cleveland, GA and Kay Williams of Ft. Valley; 3 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren.
