Mr. Herman Grady Bell, 80, passed away early Sunday morning, July 24, 2011, at Magnolia Manor. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Golden officiating. Active Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church are requested to serve as pallbearers. Burial with military honors will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday evening, July 25, 2011. Born May 26, 1931 in Charing, GA, he was a son of the late William Herman Bell and Mamie Ivory Stubbs Bell. He was a retired foreman over the fork lift mechanics at Redman Industries and also worked at Cooper Lighting. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was the maker of "Grady Land" Christmas display in Americus. Mr. Bell was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shirley S. Bell of Americus; daughters, Brenda Vartenisian of Macon and Angie Bishop & her husband Tommy of Americus; sons, Roger Bell & his wife Vicki of Buena Vista and Donnie Bell & his special friend Ramona Huff of Clermont, FL; one sister, Ethel Glisson & her husband James of Phenix City, AL; one brother, Lealus Bell & his wife Doris of Tazewell; one brother-in-law, David Smith & his wife Beth of Swainsboro; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Smith of Americus; grandchildren, Heath Bell & his wife Meredith, Candice Jones & her husband John, Shannon French, Shane Bell, Jeramey Bell, Jessica Mitchell, and Jonathan Mitchell & his wife Samantha; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Weaver, his son Michael Bell, his sister Christine Suggs and his brother Bernice Bell.
