Mrs. Eloise Gay Hagins, 84, of Americus, passed away at her residence on September 20, 2011 after an extended illness. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus with the Rev. Wendy Joiner officiating. Born December 18, 1926, in Isabella, GA, Mrs. Hagins was a daughter of the late Leonard Gay and Florine McDonald Gay. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, and an exceptionally wonderful cook. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Americus. The family will receive friends at 205 West College Street in Americus. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ezra S. “Sammy” and Joy Hagins of Carrollton, Tommy and Linda Hagins of Americus, and Micah and Debbie Hagins of Orange Park, FL; 7 grandchildren, Karah Hagins, Amanda Hagins, and Rebekah Hagins, all of Carrollton, Zach Hagins and Melissa Hagins, both of Americus, Lauren Hagins of Valdosta, and Ashley Weeks of Orange Park, FL; two great grand-children, Ava Weeks and Eden Weeks, both of Green Cove Springs, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Hagins, a brother, Dudley Gay of Shellman, and three sisters, Jeanette Sammons of Shellman, Margie Bowers of Dawson, and Inez Balbachek of Titusville, FL. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, is in charge of arrangements.
