Kathleen Greene Thompson

Mrs. Kathleen Greene Thompson, 87, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 22, 2011, at Magnolia Manor. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Lee Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Matt Stewart will officiate. A private interment will follow. Visitation will be held at Lee Street United Methodist Church from 2:00 PM until services begin. A daughter of the late James Austin Greene and Alice Magnolia Greenway Greene, Mrs. Thompson was born November 25, 1923 in Moultrie, GA. She was a home maker and a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, James Mitchell Thompson of Americus; daughters Rhonda Beers of Hickory, NC and Kathy Thompson of Americus; son-in-law Darrell Hoffman & his wife Katie of Americus; sister Betty Jo Lynn of Idaho; brother Wayne Greene & his wife Gloria of Albany; grandchildren: Mollie & Scott Freeman, Keith Walker, Stephanie Brittain, Rhonda H. Gates, Chad & Jennifer Hoffman, and Rebekah & Chester Giles, 13 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carol Thompson Walker in 1983, and was also preceded in death by her sisters Evelyn Kennedy & Maxine Greene, and by her brothers Edwin Greene & Marvin Greene. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to United Hospice of Cordele, 708 East 16th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015.
