Mr. Thomas Davis Hall, 87, passed away Monday morning, December 5, 2011, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Rev. Hugh DeLoach will officiate. A private interment will follow. A visitation will be held at Hancock Funeral Home for an hour preceding the funeral services, beginning at 10:00 AM. Born August 8, 1924 in Pinehurst, GA, Mr. Hall was a son of the late William Henry & Lois Hall. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He started school as a youngster at Chambliss School, and then went into the Navy in 1943, stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station in Chicago, Illinois. When the war was over, he was sent home in 1946. He began work for Economy Gas & Appliance Co. in Montezuma. He married Bessie Lou Peek in 1950 and moved to Americus. The company would change names 8 times and is now Ferrellgas. He retired in 1991, after 45 years' work as a truck driver and sales representative. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his wife Bessie in 2000; and by his parents and four brothers: George W. Hall, Charles Ray Hall, Willis H. Hall and Joel W. Hall. Survivors include 3 sisters-in-law: Juanita Hall, Phyllis Hall, and Ruby Hall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
