Lucious Walter Gable

Mr. Lucious Walter Gable, 95, passed away Monday morning, January 9, 2012, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Central Baptist Church. Rev. Hugh DeLoach will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Andersonville National Historic Site. A visitation is planned for 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Hancock Funeral Home. Born June 21, 1916 in Lexington, SC, he was the son of the late Walter Gable and Alma Roland Gable. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Martha Holland Gable. Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Shirley & Dennis Williams of Lecanto, FL; granddaughter, Amy Williams Fernandes & her husband David of Ballston Spa, NY; grandson Matthew Williams & his wife Amy of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren: Damon Fernandes, Aaron Fernandes, and Caden Fernandes, all of Ballston Spa, NY; Mattie Kate Williams and Tommy Brown, both of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Mildred Cowart of Metter, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, including: Janie Mae Jackson, Louise & Don Taylor, Agnus & Don Bacon, Louise Frost, Wilton & Marian Stokes, Billy & Pat Oliver, and Jo Ann Fouraker. A retired veteran Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force where he served from 1935 until 1957 (when he moved to Americus from Clovis, NM,) Mr. Gable was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was Secretary/Treasurer of his Sunday School class for many years, and was a member of the 3L's Club. He was retired from the Marine Logistics Center in Albany.
