Don William Gay

Mr. Don William Gay, 71, of Americus, passed away Friday evening, June 1, 2012, at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA. Funeral services are planned for 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday evening, June 4, 2012, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home. Born March 14, 1941, he was a son of the late Bill Gay and Ila Theo Hutchens Newman. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Gay was retired from Warren Scott Construction Company. He was of the Christian faith, and loved fishing, the Atlanta Braves, and the Miami Dolphins. Survivors include his wife, Lois Gay of Americus; son Donny Gay and his wife Chrys of Americus; daughter Rhonda Lewthwaite of Americus; son-in-law Jerry Lewthwaite of Americus; brother Aaron Gay of Macon; sister Zona Gay Morrow Meeks of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Levi Lewthwaite, Ciera Gay, and Hunter Lewthwaite; and several nieces & nephews.
