Doing it “My Way”, as the old Frank Sinatra hit recording that he loved so much put it, Frank J. Cardamone Sr. lived a wonderful life filled with family and friends, a life that ended peacefully June 14, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ. Frank J. Cardamone, Sr. was born October 31, 1919, in Barrack Ville, West Virginia. He was a son of the late Vincent Cardamone and Antoinette Sergi Cardamone. He lived in Pittsburgh, PA until he relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1972. He is a proud 1937 graduate of South Hills High School in Pittsburgh, PA, a member of American Legion Post #2 in Americus, GA, and served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had a pilot’s license, worked as an airplane mechanic and was a licensed Civil Aeronautics Board Inspector. An entrepreneur, he owned two shoe repair/sales shops in Pittsburgh, helped raise four children; and after retirement in 1981 from Southwest Airlines in Phoenix, he became an amateur Frank Sinatra impersonator, entertaining many wherever he went. Mr. Cardamone was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Saliba Cardamone of Phoenix, AZ. Family members include three daughters, Maria Ohl (John, deceased)of Mesa, AZ, Georgia Hernandez (Robert) of Champion, PA and Milady Broekstra-Cardamone (Gerrit) of The Netherlands; a son, Frank J. Cardamone, Jr. (Joan Clingan) of Prescott, AZ; two sisters Connie Pope and Yolanda Diulus; five brothers, John Cardamone, Tillie Cardamone, Tom Cardamone, Joe Cardamone, and Angelo Cardamone; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. A sister, Victoria Aiose and a brother, Anthony Cardamone, are deceased. A Memorial service will be held at Messinger Mortuaries, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251 on Tuesday, June 19 at 11:00 am followed by a reception in the Courtyard Reception Room. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 23 at Hancock Funeral Home from 1-4 pm. The funeral service and reception will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee Street in Americus, Georgia on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 2:00 followed by internment at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Odyssey Hospice, 6215 E.
