James Leon Jordan

Mr. James L. Jordan, 93, of Americus, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 4, 2012, in Winder, GA. Funeral services are planned for Sunday, July 8, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church. Rev. Hugh DeLoach and Dr. Bryan Myers will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Saturday evening, July 7, 2012, between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born April 10, 1919 in Schley County, he was a son of the late Amos Jordan and Willie Jordan Cook. He was a retired section foreman for the B.F. Goodrich Company and was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he had been very active in Sunday School and the Silvertones. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife, Erlene Bryan Jordan in May of 1994. Survivors include 4 daughters: Laverne Esco (Charlie) of Atlanta, Myra Chavers (Harold) of Plains, Dale Sherouse (Larry) of Drayton, and Elaine Steed (Lee) of Gwinnett County.
