Mrs. Doris Wagener of Americus passed away late Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2012, at Lillian G. Carter Nursing Center in Plains. No funeral services are planned at this time. A visitation will be held Friday evening, September 14, 2012, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born December 7, 1928 in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late William Archie Hargrove and Ethel Alston Hargrove. Mrs. Wagener was of the Baptist faith and was a retired school teacher. Survivors include her daughter Sandra Buchanan of Plains; sisters Charlotte Hargrove and Laurie Hargrove, both of Americus; and brother-in-law Bill Harris of Americus. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society c/o Mrs. Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Ave., Americus, GA 31709.
