Obituary: Mrs. Ima Jewel Williams Chappell AMERICUS - Mrs. Ima Jewel Williams Chappell of 122 Bell Street Americus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Phoebe Sumter Hospital at the age of 83. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 3:00 PM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery on the Chappell Family Lot. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Mrs. Chappell was born in Rome, Georgia to the late Eugene Emeritte Williams and the late Annie Mae Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen B. Chappell; her brothers: Robert E. Williams, Claude Williams, Thad Williams, David Williams and Calvin Williams; and her sisters: Jaqueline Williams, Nell Harden Melton and Nita W. Price. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the church choir at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for many years before entering Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. She worked for Bellsouth Telephone Company many years ago as a telephone operator. She was a member of the Morning Glory Garden Club. Her whole life was dedicated and devoted to her only son John Ander “Andy” Price, Jr. Andy was born with Down’s syndrome. For 60 years, everywhere she went, Andy was right beside her. Andy has been in Magnolia Manor for nearly 2 years, and she has spent the last few months of her life as a resident herself still taking care of her special son that she loved so much. She is survived by her son Andy Price of Americus. She is also survived by her step-sister Yvonne Satterfield of Ellaville and her step-brother Vertis Marchant of Leesburg along with several nieces and nephews. The family will be at the home of her nephew, Jimmy and Holly Black, 115 Landing Court, Cordele, Georgia.
