Tommie Lowery

Mrs. Tommie Lowery, 102, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2013, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 8, at Central Baptist Church, with Mrs. Lowery lying in state for an hour preceding the service. Rev. Hugh DeLoach and Dr. Bryan Myers will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, February 7, between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., and at other times at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Aaron Lowery, 1915 Rose Avenue. Born December 28, 1910, Mrs. Lowery was a daughter of the late Thomas Anderson Riddle and Mattie Mattox Riddle. She was a home maker and a member of Central Baptist Church since 1948, where she was a choir member and Sunday School teacher for many years, and was a member of the Garden Club. Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Lowery, by her daughter, Linda Faye Lowery, and by 6 brothers & sisters. Survivors include 2 sons, Conrad Lowery and Aaron Lowery (& his wife Heart), both of Americus; a daughter, Ernestine Scarborough of Americus; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
