Mrs. Elia "Ellie" Peña Vento passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 23, 2013, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the DeSoto Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the DeSoto Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Troy Fripp and Rev. William Herndon will officiate. Born August 4, 1943 in Santa Rosa, TX, she was the daughter of the late Benito Flores Peña and Adelaida Ruiz Peña, who survives her. Mrs. Vento was of the Baptist faith and was a home maker. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her son, Francisco Vento Jr. of Dallas, TX; 2 daughters, Dalia Vento Lopez & her husband Francisco Lopez of Warner Robins, GA; and Debra Vento Alfaro & her husband Rene Alfaro of DeSoto, GA; 3 brothers, Jose Peña of Santa Rosa, TX; Roberto Peña of Vanceboro, NC; and Jorge Peña of Santa Rosa, TX; grandchildren, Francisco Lopez, III of Warner Robins, GA; Erik Lopez of Orlando, FL; and Jessica Lopez of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
