Peggy Booth Sutton

Mrs. Peggy Booth Sutton passed away Saturday morning, July 20, at her home in Americus. Funeral services are planned for 1:00 PM Monday, July 22, at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Myers officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley. Pallbearers will include her nephews: David Barrett, Tim Barrett, Billy Barrett, Ty Barrett, Peyton Hancock, and Rolie Hancock. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 21, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., between the hours of 4:00 & 6:00 PM. Friends may call at other times at Mrs. Sutton's residence, 115 Cedar Ridge Drive in Americus. Born February 6, 1927 in Lakeland, FL, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Edward Booth and Eva Clyde Hutchinson Booth. She worked for 21 years in shipping at the Bibb Co., and was retired after 23 years from the Bank of Fort Valley. She was a long-time resident of Fort Valley until moving to Americus in 2004. In Fort Valley, she was a member of the 39'ers and the Trumpet Praise Choir. A member of Central Baptist Church, Mrs. Sutton was in the Sunshine Sunday School class and the Silvertones Choir at the church. Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Sutton, in 1990. Survivors include two sisters, JoAnn Seawright (Jim) of Americus,and Polly Hancock of Americus; one brother, Jack Booth of Americus; one niece, Debra Womack (Johnny) of Americus; 5 nephews, Billy Barrett (Karen) of Americus, David Barrett of Columbus, Tim Barrett of Buckhead, Eddie Booth of Americus, and Peyton Hancock (Angie) of Americus; great-nieces & nephews: Audrey Barrett Teate (John), Ty Barrett, Jade Hancock and Rolie Hancock, all of Americus, Leigh Anne Busby (Nick) of Augusta, and J. R. Booth (Kristie) of Dawson; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Booth. In lieu of flowers, it was Mrs. Sutton's wish that memorial contributions be made to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, GA 31719, or to Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Rd., Americus, GA 31709.
