Mrs. Marilynn M. Dixon passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Arbor Trail Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Inverness, FL. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM Saturday, August 10, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with private interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Keith Parks will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, preceding the funeral, from 9:00-11:00 AM. A native of Smithville, Mrs. Dixon was born August 6, 1930, a daughter of the late Samuel Emmitt Mitchell and Katie Belle Mitchell. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus, and was a home maker. She was the widow of John White Dixon, Sr., who passed away July 29, 2006. Survivors include one daughter, Laurie McLean (Tom) of Hernando, FL; one son, John Dixon, Jr. (Melinda) of Americus; one sister, Marian Harris of Plains; 4 grandchildren: Katie McLean, Allison McLean, Cathryn Dixon and Carli Dixon; and 2 great-grandchildren: Kaden McLean and Trenton Hegedus. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Mitchell and a sister, Ethel Moore.
