Mr. Billy Mack Howard, age 79, passed away Saturday morning, August 10, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, from the graveside at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Rev. Jeffery Summers will officiate. Pallbearers will include Earl Carter, David Jordan, James Howard and Mark Fuller. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 11, between the hours of 4:00 & 5:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A native of Plains, Mr. Howard was born December 22, 1933, a son of the late James Mack Howard and DeAlva Simmons Howard. He was a retired advertising executive in New York and Philadelphia, and later he served in Information Technology at Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Howard was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lila Ruth Spires Howard of Plains; 3 sons: Michael Howard of Mount Dora, FL, James Howard (Marie) of Gainesville, FL, and Steven Howard of Plains; a brother, James R. Howard of Tampa, FL; 2 sisters, Gloria Ann Turner of Clearwater, FL and Peggy Jordan of Marietta, GA; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
