Mrs. Annie Keaton, age 102, passed away Sunday morning, October 6, at the Oaks at the Marshes in Savannah. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM Friday, October 11, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Hugh DeLoach will officate. Born November 26th, 1911, in Colquitt, GA, Mrs. Keaton was the fifth of six daughters born to the late Henry Charles and Annie McTyre Beane. She was the widow of Benjamin Pierce(BP) Keaton. She is survived by her son Charles H. Keaton and his wife Arlene of Savannah, Ga. A granddaughter, Susan Keaton Roberts (Steve), grandson, Charles Benjamin Keaton (Kim), grandson, William Howard Keaton (Amy), five great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, all of Savannah, Ga. As were both her parents and all of her sisters, Mrs. Keaton was a school teacher. She taught for 25 years in Miller County, Ga., 4 years in Early County, Ga. and ten years in Americus, Ga. She and Mr. Keaton lived in Colquitt for 25 years before moving to Americus where Mr. Keaton died in 1999. Mrs. Keaton lived at Magnolia Manor until 2005 when she moved to the Oaks in Savannah to be near her family. Mrs. Keaton was a dedicated Baptist and active in Colquitt Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church in Americus and Skidaway Island Baptist Church in Savannah. "Miss Annie", as she was known by hundreds of South Georgia children who were her students, was a dedicated and outstanding teacher. She left a lasting impression on all with whom she came in contact....mostly in young minds, but occasionally on young behinds.
