Joshua Cole "Little Man" Medrano, age 11, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 16, at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Egleston. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 20, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 19, between the hours of 5:00 & 7:00 PM, at Hancock Funeral Home, and also Wednesday morning beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at other times at the home of Cynthia Medrano, 612 Walter Way. Born May 24, 2002, Joshua is survived by his parents, Cynthia Shaddix Medrano of Americus and Rusty Medrano of Shelby, NC; sister, Courtney Medrano; brother Dayton Medrano; grandmother Elizabeth Shaddix; great-grandmother Margaret Shaddix, all of Americus; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved nurses, Velletta Jackson, Sharon Bartley, Jessica Ferguson and Victor Sanabria, II. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd Shaddix and Doris & Bill O'Barr, and great-grandparents Frank Shaddix, Charlie & Carrie Belle Hart, and Carl & Thelma Vinson. Joshua was a fourth grade student at Sarah Cobb Elementary School. He was a happy, outgoing, bubbly child who loved life. He was loved by everyone who knew him and his precious smile will be missed by all.
