Mr. Herbert May Barranger, Jr., age 83, passed away Tuesday morning, December 3, at his home in Americus. Services are planned for 2:00 PM on Monday, December 9, from the committal pavilion at Andersonville National Historic Site. Dr. Mike Flowers will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the family residence, 120 Shirley Road, at any time, on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Born August 24, 1930 in Danville, VA, he was a son of the late Herbert M. Barranger and Berta Davis Barranger. Mr. Barranger was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus, and was a veteran of the United States Army, having earned the rank of Sergeant. He later owned and retired from several businesses specializing in security and alarm systems. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Biggs Barranger of Americus; son Herbert M. Barranger, III (Kristen) of Canton, GA; daughters Debbie Martin (Dennis) of Houston, TX and Shari Roush of Pensacola, FL; 5 grandchildren: Shawn Martin, Shannon Wiggins, and Sharlen Martin, all of Houston, Dani Barranger of Canton and John Roush of Pensacola; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Barranger was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Barranger. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the General Fund at First Baptist Church, 221 S.
