Mr. Tommy Bishop, age 47, passed away on Sunday, December 8, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. On Tuesday, December 10, at Bethel Baptist Church, a one-hour visitation, beginning at 1:30 p.m. will be conducted, followed by the funeral service to begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Steven Golden will officiate. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Mrs. Shirley Bell, 663 Bumphead Road, Americus. Mr. Bishop, a native of Gonzales, LA, was born November 30, 1966, a son of Richard A. Bishop and the late Marilyn Marie Keel Bishop. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Sunday School of the church. He served as a licensed practical nurse at several nursing homes, including Magnolia Manor. He completed three fields of study at South Georgia Technical School, including the LPN program, the automotive technology program, and the Air Conditioning technology program from which he earned an associate degree. Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Angie W. Bishop of Americus; his son, Dustin Anthony Bishop of Alma, MI; his brother, Richard Bishop of Montezuma; his sisters, Carol Wade and husband Simon of Cordele, Sherry Handley and husband Sammy of Arabi, and Terry Millen of Prairieville, LA; his aunt, Bonnie Andrews of Baton Rouge, LA; his mother-in-law, Shirley Bell of Americus; his grandmother-in-law, Elizabeth L. Smith of Americus; his brothers-in-law, Donald Bell of Thomaston, and Roger Bell and his wife Vicki of Buena Vista; his sister-in-law, Brenda Dumbleton of Macon, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, his sisters Cindy Wilkerson and Linda Gale Bishop, his grandmother, Melzena Jordan, his father-in-law, Grady Bell, and his grandfather-in-law, C. Odell Smith.
