John Henry Boyer

Mr. John Henry Boyer passed away Friday morning, January 3, at his home in Americus. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Monday, January 6, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Dr. Bryan Myers will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, January 5, between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, and at other times at 100 Page Drive in Americus. Born December 14, 1925 in Hillview, IL, he was a son of the late Otis L. Boyer and Effie Stringer Boyer. A member of Beulah Missionary Church in Goshen, IN, Mr. Boyer retired from CTS in telephone equipment manufacturing, and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Joyce B. Gawthorpe Boyer of Americus; two daughters, Debra O'Laughlin (Gary) of California and Valerie Rummel (Larry) of Americus; one sister, Lily York (J.C.) of Florida; three grandchildren, Jason Muhme of Ohio, Michael Muhme of Indiana, and Meghan Hastings of Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Simone Muhme and River Muhme; and fourteen nieces & nephews. Mr. Boyer was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Harold and Ralph, and by one sister, Helen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.
