Mrs. Dorothy J. Harris, 91, passed away Sunday evening, March 2, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services are planned for 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 6, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Eddie Braswell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Hancock Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, March 5, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Born December 4, 1922 in Birmingham, AL, she was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Ward. Mrs. Harris was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church, and was retired from the State of Georgia as Registrar at the Sumter County Health Department. Survivors include two sons, Bill Harris (Beth) and Jim Harris (Barbara) of Americus; grandchildren: Annette Royal (John) of Smithville, Lisa Morey (Heath), and Ginger Allen (Mike) of Leesburg; and Scott Harris (Sarah) of Panama City, FL; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Carol Bills of Huntsville, AL, and Rose Pierre (Norman) of Spanish Fort, AL; and two brothers, Bob Ward (Janette) of Theodore, AL and Gene Ward (Hielda) of Mobile, AL.
