Mr. Edwin C. Mizio, 89, passed away on Saturday evening, May 24, at his home in Georgetown. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 AM, CST, on Wednesday, May 28, at the First Presbyterian Church of Eufaula, AL, with Rev. Brian Copeland officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, EST, on Thursday, May 29, in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus. Born October 11, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Steve Mizio & Natalie Osinski Mizio. He retired from dairy farming, and then worked for a number of years for the Americus School System as groundskeeper. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and playing the accordion. Mr. Mizio was a member & Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Eufaula, where he sang in the church choir for many years, and was a member of the Men's Breakfast Club. He had a deep respect for life and living things, and had a special love for his family. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Cora Mizio of Georgetown; two daughters, Nancy M. Judy (Luther) of Monroe, NC and Alice M. Drury (Paul) of White Oak, GA; one son, Steven C. Mizio (Minh) of Americus; one brother, Ronald Mizio of Clayton, NC; 8 grandchildren: Lou Ann Sexton, Jennifer Judy, Amanda Horton, David Drury, Melissa Saldana, Martin Drury, Stephanie Robertson, and Cathy Mizio; 6 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
