Mr. James "Joe" Cook, 70, passed away Tuesday morning, June 3, at Regency Hospital in Macon. The family will assemble at the residence of Tara McIntyre, 5097 Georgia Highway 271, Ellaville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5 at Life Point Church. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with grandchildren serving as active pallbearers. Those who are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers include Chris Wooden, Richard Goodin, Bobby Underwood, Bud Harrod, Bill Herrin, and the men of Life Point Church. Rev. Bud Womack, Rev. Frank Thompson, and Rev. Lennie Howard will officiate. Born June 1, 1944, in Clopton, Alabama, Mr. Cook was a son of the late James Leslie Cook and Verna Mae Moates Cook. He was an equipment operator and was retired from the City of Americus. Throughout his working life he had served as a plumber with Bill Herrin Plumbing Company and Mock Plumbing Company. He also had a lawn mower repair business at his home. He was a member of Life Point Church. Survivors include his wife, Aletha Howard Cook; two daughters, Tara McIntyre of Ellaville and Pamela Smith of Phenix City, AL; two sons, Jayme McIntyre of Lake City, FL and Rodney Cook of Phenix City, AL; a sister, Ruby Key of Dothan, AL, two brothers, Bill Cook and his wife Sheila of Seale, AL and Danny Cook and his wife Darlene of Dothan, AL; ten grandchildren, Cody Erwin, Kari Erwin, Christopher Hiltz, Scott Cook, Joey Cook, Robbie Hancock, Kirstie Hart, Storm McIntyre, Donavann McIntyre, and Garreth McIntyre; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and his devoted dog, Skittles.
