Christine Allmon Austin

Mrs. Christine Allmon Austin, 90, passed away Thursday morning, June 26, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM Saturday, June 28, at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Myers and Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Stephen Callaway Austin, Gregory Taylor Austin, Andrew Parker Austin, Logan Richard Hanley, Adam Christopher Hanley, and Rick Hanley. Members of the Kathleen Gardner Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 27, between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM in the Social Hall of Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, and at other times at the family residence, 1710 Armory Drive. Born September 25, 1923 in Schley County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Lewis Allmon and Mary Elizabeth Harvey Allmon. Mrs. Austin was a home maker and a member of Central Baptist Church and the Kathleen Gardner Sunday School class. She had been active in past years in the Camelettes (Ladies of the Shrine) and various social and bridge clubs. Survivors include her husband, William Harold Austin of Americus; two sons, Steve Austin of Americus and Greg Austin (Karen) of Americus; one daughter, Tina Hanley (Rick) of Americus; grandchildren: Allison Austin Hester (Clayton) of St. Simons Island, Stephen Callaway Austin (Jenny Gebhard-Stiegler) of Americus, Gregory Taylor Austin of Americus, Andrew Parker Austin of Americus, Logan Richard Hanley of Macon, and Adam Christopher Hanley of Americus; one great-grandson, Henley Harold Hester of St. Simons Island; one sister, Grace Albritton of Americus; a daughter-in-law, Ginger Austin of Americus; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Finis Allmon and a sister, Kathleen Bohn.
