Raymond Everett Crook

Mr. Raymond Everett Crook, 75, passed away Monday morning, June 30, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Mr. George Land will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 PM on Thursday at Hancock Funeral Home. Born January 22, 1939 in Andersonville, he was a son of the late John David Crook and Mattie Waters Crook Jordan. Mr. Crook was a machine operator, having worked for Redman Industries in Richland and PPI in Plains, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Elizabeth Poole Crook, in February 1997, and by his brother, John David "Billy" Crook, Jr. Survivors include his granddaughter, Elizabeth Michelle Latham (Johnathan) of Andersonville; great-grandchildren: Samantha L. Dupree, Christopher W. Latham, and Ramond L. Latham; two brothers, Bobby Crook of Mechanicsville, VA and Jimmy Crook of Wollstein, Germany; step-children: Barbara Kisiel, Joan Walter, Pete Richards, William White, and Michael White; several step-grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or a charity of one's choice, particularly those benefitting childhood cancer research and treatment.
