Elizabeth Moore Parker

Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Parker, age 89, of 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA, died August 5, 2008 in Sacred Journey Hospice. A native of Sumter County, Mrs. Parker was born September 14, 1918, a daughter of the late John David Moore and Carrie Deane Perry Moore. Mrs. Parker was a Methodist and was a retired public school elementary teacher. She was the widow of Henry Boykin Parker who preceded her in death in 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Anne E. Scholl of Birmingham and Lucy D. Crittendon and her husband Johnny of Locust Grove; three sons, William "Bill" Parker and his wife Shirley of McDonough, J. David Parker and his wife Lin of Tucker, and J. Stephen Parker and his wife Martha of Birmingham; two sisters, Grace M. Harden of Stone Mountain and Patricia M. Hines of Leslie; and one brother, J.P. "Red" Moore and his wife Iris of Americus. Eight grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2008, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Hugh DeLoach will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Hancock Funeral Home. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, is in charge of arrangements.
