Thomas Slappey, Jr.

Mr. Thomas Russell Slappey, Jr., 67, passed away unexpectedly late Friday afternoon, September 5, in Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, in the Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville with his cousin, the Rev. Jarrell Lillard, officiating. Born March 23, 1941, in Americus, Mr. Slappey was a son of the late Thomas Slappey and Mary Inez Lillard Slappey. He was a graduate of Americus High School and served for about 6 years in the National Guard. He worked in the mobile home furniture-making industry for a number of years. There will be no viewing, visitation or service in Americus, but those who desire to sign the register book which will be delivered to Rev. Lillard may do so at Hancock Funeral Home between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Survivors, in addition to the Rev. Lillard, include a number of other cousins. Hancock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
