Mr. Wayne Alfred Brown, 71, passed away on Saturday evening, November 1, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Services are planned for 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Rev. Mike Dorough will officiate, with Eric Parker providing musical accompaniment. The family will receive friends on Wednesday between the hours of 5:00 & 6:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home. Born May 20, 1943 in Cordele, he was a son of the late Alfred E. Brown and Sue Dorough Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church, where he was past Treasurer and had held other posts within the church. He served in a management position for area businesses and retired from the Jameson Inn in 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Marie Howard Brown, on December 18, 2011. Survivors include two daughters: Melissa Brown Kennedy and her husband Jeff of Leesburg, and Laura Marie Brown of Augusta; grandson, Trenton Gray Kennedy; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Kennedy; sister & brother-in-law, Diane Brown Parker & Billy Joe Parker; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Barbara Howard Korey & Tony Korey; one niece; four nephews; and his special dog, Delta.
