Mrs. Mary Shellhouse passed away on Friday evening, December 12, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, from Central Baptist Church, with Dr. Bryan Myers and Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating and Mrs. Elaine Skipper and Rev. Rodney Poe providing musical accompaniment. Members of the Silvertones at Central Baptist Church are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Gerald Mixon, Rainey Hodge, Bo Sullivan, Paul Mott, Steve Gordon, and Donnie Smith. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, December 15, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born July 3, 1938 in Adel, GA, she was a daughter of the late James Ashley Kelly and Julia Mae McColler Kelly. She was retired after 23 years at Manhattan Shirt Factory and 20 years at Sumter Regional Hospital. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, James E. Shellhouse of Americus; two sons, Michael E. Shellhouse of Americus and Rusty Shellhouse of Pulaski, TN; one sister, Betty Potts (Malcolm) of Conley, GA; two grandsons, Russell Scott Shellhouse and Steven Anthony Shellhouse; and two nephews, Allen Potts (Kristi) and Keith Potts (Lauren).
