Mrs. Joyce B. Gawthorpe Boyer, 85, passed away on Saturday afternoon, January 17, at her daughter's home in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Rev. Rodney Powe will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, January 20, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, and at other times at 100 Page Drive in Americus. Born December 28, 1929 in Syracuse, IN, she was a daughter of the late Leo Merle Gawthorpe and Irma Loman Gawthorpe. A member of Beulah Missionary Church in Goshen, IN, Mrs. Boyer retired after 40 years with CTS Telephone Manufacturing. She was preceded in death on January 3, 2014, by her husband, John Henry Boyer. Survivors include two daughters, Debra O'Laughlin (Gary) of Sonora, CA and Valerie Rummel (Larry) of Americus; three grandchildren, Jason Muhme of Ohio, Michael Muhme of Indiana, and Meghan Hastings of Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Simone Muhme and River Muhme; three sisters, Betty Becknell of Lambert, MI, Nancy Morgano of St. Charles, IL, and Gwen Snyder of Warsaw, IN; one brother, Phillip Nine (Carole) of Salome, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.
