Miss Mary Earle Mackin, 88, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2015, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, just one day before her sister, Mrs. LaVerne Mackin Comer, passed away. A double visitation for the two of them will be conducted at Hancock Funeral Home from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015, with graveside funeral services for them to begin at 5:00 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Born October 4, 1926, in Collins Hill, Georgia, Miss Mackin was a daughter of the late Shivington Mackin and Lena Mae Page Mackin. Ms. Mackin was a professional business lady. Upon graduation from high school, she began working in 1943 at Atlanta Retail Credit Company on Fairlie Street. Atlanta Retail Credit later merged with Equifax. She began her 44 years of loyal, dedicated service to these two corporations as a secretary and ended as a reviewer in 1987. She loved art and had studied at the Atlanta School of Art. She served the children at Egleston Hospital as a clown named "Sunny", spending many hours bringing joy to sick children. Mary Earle was a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus. Survivors include two nephews, Reginald Comer and his wife, Mary, of Americus, and Bruce Comer and his wife, Susan, of Griffin. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, David Bruce Comer and his wife, Mary, of Summerville, SC and their daughters, Ella and Martha; Stephen Alex Comer and his wife, Natalie, of Charlottesville, VA, and their children, Emma, Asher, Jonas, and Lily; Reginald Clayton Comer and his wife, Leigh Anne, of Columbus, GA, and their daughter, Savannah; and Carin Leigh Villeneuve and her husband, Peter, of Lakeville, MA, and their children, Gabriel, Ariel, and Luke.
