Dixie A. Kobs

Mrs. Dixie A. Kobs, 83, passed away on Sunday morning, November 30, 2008, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, in Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating. Mrs. Ann Partain will provide appropriate music. Grandsons, including Jason Albritton, Joey Albritton, Tommy Kobs, Terry Kobs, Sean Kobs, and Chip Hancock, will serve as active pallbearers. A native of Pine City in Whitman County, Washington, Mrs. Kobs was a daughter of the late Bert Sweet Roberts and Geneva Margret Campbell Roberts. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and well known for her crocheting and baking skills. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Sunshine Sunday School class, and a former member of the Silvertones. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Karan and Ronnie Albritton, 1085 Tallent Store Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunshine Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, GA 31709, or to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karan and Ronnie Albritton of Americus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Virginia Kobs and Billy and Pam Kobs, all of Americus; a brother, Bill Roberts of Citrus Heights, California; a sister, Judy Schmierer of Snohomish, Washington, two sisters-in-law, Dora Kobs of Americus and Frieda Heckmann of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kobs, in 2000, and by a daughter, Rebecca Kobs, in 1972. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
