Mrs. Hazel E. Bass, 93, passed away on Friday evening, February 13, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 17, at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Tony Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in Mars Hill Cemetery in Calhoun County. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, February 16, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born August 1, 1921 in Edison, GA, she was a daughter of the late St. John Woolsey and Jessie Ferguson Woolsey. Mrs. Bass was a home maker and a member of Liberty Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mitchell Bass, Sr., and by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Eloise Erwin (George) of Americus; two sons, William Mitchell Bass, Jr. (Jean) of San Antonio, TX, and John Monroe Bass (Glenda) of Albany; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Barbara Woolsey of Ellaville; and several nieces and nephews.
