Mr. Richard Stephen Hanken, age 72, passed away on Thursday evening, March 26, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services, with military honors, are planned for 2:00 PM on Monday, March 30, from the committal pavilion at Andersonville National Historic Site, with Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Born October 9, 1942 in Worcester, Mass., he was a son of the late Max Hanken and Martha Fieman Hanken. Mr. Hanken was retired as a Drugs & Alcohol Counselor, working with Peer One at the University of Colorado at Denver. He was a member of the Civitan Club and a member of Friends of Bill W. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Beck Hanken, of Americus; children: Brian Hanken of Denver, CO, Hans Beck (Angela) of Hendersonville, NC, Erik Beck (Jill) of Americus, Rebecca Maro (Greg) of Gilbert, AZ, and Jennifer Beck Hiniker (David) of Alexandria, VA; one sister, Elisa Cavaliero (Bobby) of Centerport, NY; grandchildren: Jaimie, Gabe, Salynda, Kathleen, Sophia, Coty, and Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
