Mrs. Doris Wood Daniel, age 93, died on Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. She was a resident of Magnolia Manor. She was born on June 11, 1921, to the late Frank William Wood and Julia Estelle Barfield Wood. She was the widow of the late Joseph Daniel. Funeral services are planned 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Ronnie Culpepper officiating. The family will receive friends for a short time at the cemetery following the services. Mrs. Daniel's career included being the food service director of schools and college, retiring from that position at Georgia Southwestern College, now Georgia Southwestern State University. Mrs. Daniel was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church. At this church, she served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the administrative board. Mrs. Daniel served as a pink lady at Sumter Regional Hospital. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, a former member of the Americus Pilot Club, and a former member of the American College and University Food Service Association. Survivors include three daughters: Julia Culpepper (husband Ronnie) of Columbus, GA; Mary Kate (Young) Noury (husband Philip) of Rock Hill, SC; and Moiya McClellan (husband Henry) of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren: Laura (Genung) Martin (husband Scott) of Columbus, GA; Amy Bull (husband Andy) of Collierville, TN; Carol Seal (husband Scott) of Signal Mountain, TN; Ross Young (wife Samantha) of Birmingham, AL; and Matt Young of Gulf Shores, AL; great-grandchildren: Camden Genung, Julia Claire Genung, and Creede Genung of Columbus, GA; Hannah Bull and Spencer Bull of Collierville, TN; Justin Young (wife Sara Beth) of Oceanside, CA, and Alyssa Young Simmons (husband Tim) of Birmingham, AL; and Reagan Young of Gulf Shores, AL; one great-great-granddaughter, Harper Mae Young, daughter of Sara Beth and Justin Young, of Oceanside CA; and two nieces: Betty Hicks of Macon, GA; and Patricia Jones of Marietta, GA.
