Mrs. Tillie Ellis, 92, passed away on Sat. morning, Dec. 20, 2008, in Americus, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted in the interment shelter at the cemetery in Andersonville National Historic Site at 2:00 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 22. Family members request that memorial contributions be made to the League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709 or to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709. Born September 22, 1916, in Buhler, Kansas, Mrs. Ellis was a daughter of the late Karl C. and Elizabeth W. Warkentin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Americus First Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a member of the Misbeats Rhythm Band while residing at Magnolia Manor retirement center. Survivors include two daughters, Jana Goodin and her husband Richard of Cobb, GA and Beverly Braun of Blue River, OR; a sister, Irma Toews of Reedley, CA; two brothers, LaVern Warkentin and his wife Judy of Reedley, CA and Allen Warkentin and his wife Belva of Shafter, CA; 8 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Charles Ellis, on April 1, 2003, her son, Gary Ellis, in January, 2006, a grandson, Edward Ellis, and a great grandson, Blake Goodin.
