Mrs. Leona Dickerson Cahoon, 88, passed away on Friday afternoon, December 26, in Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grave Cemetery. Requested to serve as pallbearers are John Smith, Marvin Smith, Chip Smith, Colby Eason, Elmo McAllister, and Brett Hewett. Born July 17, 1920, in Geneva Co., AL, Mrs. Cahoon was a daughter of the late Shelton D. and Dora Q. Watford. She was a homemaker and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. She attended church services and the Sunday School of the church as long as her health permitted. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Janice and Donald Beamon, 417 Middle River Road. Family members suggest that memorial contributions might be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Beamon and her husband Donald, and Sue Jameson, all of Americus; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Wenola Dickerson, Bert and Lynda Dickerson, all of Americus, Lamar and Susie Dickerson of Bear Creek, AL, and Jimmy Dickerson of Peachtree City; a sister, Mae Carter of Wausau, FL; and a number of grand-children, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Leonard Leslie Dickerson and Victor Carlisle Cahoon, Jr., and by sons Bobby Dickerson, Charles Dickerson, and Larry Dickerson.
