Ms. Janice Shaw Camp, age 59, of Americus, died early Wednesday morning, Dec. 31, 2008, in Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma. The remains will be cremated, and memorial services held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2009, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with Keith Wisham officiating. Born December 29, 1949, in Griffin, Ms. Camp was a daughter of the late James Garfield Shaw and Ella Faye Walker Shaw. She was a waitress and worked in several local restaurants, including King’s Inn, the Varsity, Holiday Inn, and Hasty House. The family will receive friends at 276 Rockdale Subdivision Loop. Family members suggest that memorial contributions be made to a special fund which has been established at Wachovia Bank in Ms. Camp’s name. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Grady Elmore of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, a son and daughter-in-law, William Lee and Lisa Storey of Thomaston; a sister, Annette Wainwright of Americus; a brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Jan Shaw of Americus; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, James Dean Storey, on Aug. 17, 2006. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
